Society Pennitentary
People do things wrong all the time. They make mistakes, some terrible and some not that bad. I think everyone agrees that punishment should be distributed those who commit bad crimes. What is usually wrong by society, is frowned upon by law enforcement. The punishment of someone's wrong-doings should be equivalent to the crime they committed. A murderer will have to face the wrath of the death penalty and someone who commits theft will have things stolen from them. It is sort of like the phrase "An eye for an eye". Whatever the crime is, they should face the punishment and same amount of shame that the person felt who had the crime committed to. I do not think that spending time in a jail cell truly punishes someone for whatever they did. Even if it was a minor crime that did not do too much damage, they still broke the law. Prisons do not do much justice to criminals, nowadays. But they are vital to our society, country, and even the world. They keep away the bad people from society. We cannot give the death penalty to every person who commits a crime in this country. If we did that, our population would decrease by a lot. Prison keeps away the threat of violence to society, even though sometimes people escape from prison. There is work being put in everyday to stop the amount of people who escape from jails and prisons. The time spent in prison cells should be determined by the level of the crime. There should be a chart for each possible crime and an amount of how long they spend. With murder there should be a different amount for every number of people they murdered. There should also be a crime number limit to how much crimes you can commit. If the limit is exceeded, an entire lifetime will be spent. If the crime is minor and the criminal expresses good behavior, he or she will be allowed to have early release from his or her prison. But if he or she gets caught committing a crime again, he or she will be sent back for the rest of his or her life. In my world, prisons would not change much. People would most likely have longer sentences and there would be more people in there. I do not think that courts and law enforcement are strict enough when it comes to criminals. There are way too many roaming the streets of each state because they got away. If we had a better system of catching criminals and keeping them locked up, the world would be a much safer place. My prisons would give the inmates less freedom. In modern prisons across the country, criminals are living like they would in a regular community. They need to know that they are being punished and feel the wrath of the law. There are killers out there who need to face the consequences. Karma gets around eventually.
