Friday was a very good day for me and a lot of other kids in my school. I attended the Discover trip to New York City; it was quite the experience. I have only been to the big apple one other time in my life. It was at a very young age to see some Broadway musical. I never really remember much from that trip up to New York, so I am glad I got to go up on Friday. I have always loved the history and lifestyle based around the city. "The City that never sleeps". All of the fashion, diversity, and ample amount of opportunities up there are amazing. I would love to go back up there many more times in the near future. It is not even difficult to get there: You take a short drive up to the train station, get on the train, and you are right in the middle of everything. It was cool during the day, but when the sun went down behind the enormous buildings, it was mind blowing. All of the lights and people, the atmosphere was like no other. You could probably ask any other tourist that visits the city, it definitely lives up to all of the hype surrounding it. My trip was excellent, I got even got my face up on a billboard.
The day started off at the high school around 6:30. For the average high school kid, this is an insane time to be at the school on any day. Most kids looked like walking zombies that just stood up out of bed and walked to the school. The groups were made and the chaperones were distributed to each group. Of course, my group was lead by the one and only, Mike Mannion. We all scattered out of the cafeteria and made our ways to one of the two buses. After everyone was on the buses, I do not think you could fit a baby on any seat. We had quite the crowd. We arrived at Seacaucus train station and made our way onto the train. After arriving to NYC on the train, we walked out of Penn station with high hopes. Our group walked briskly all the way to Rockefeller Center and gazed at the Christmas tree and other delightful sites. After staying there to take pictures and walk around, we made our way to Times Square. This was an incredible place. So many people, stores, food, and just great things! A few friends and I went into the two story McDonalds and went upstairs to eat. After that, it was shopping time. I spent over one hundred dollars in Forever 21, which is my favorite store at the moment. We went into American Eagle, Tj bought pink underwear, and we got our picture up on the billboard in Times Square. All of the things I said were mostly the higlights of my day. Oh, and when everyone went running to the buses and they were not even there yet.
